Title IX Investigator
Location: Fully remote or hybrid (Chattanooga, TN)

Position Summary:
The Title IX and Equity Investigator is an entry to mid-level position that supports the implementation and enforcement of Title IX, Title VI, and other civil rights laws through investigations. This position will support school districts and institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of Title IX and civil rights complaints.
- Gather and review evidence, conduct interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses under supervision. Note these investigations primarily include minor children and parents/legal guardians.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case files, timelines, and documentation in accordance with district policies and legal requirements.
- Support the drafting of investigation summaries and findings for review by senior staff or Title IX Coordinator.
- Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and legal counsel to support appropriate interim measures and resolutions.
- Stay informed of current Title IX regulations, case law, and best practices through training and professional development.
- Perform administrative tasks related to Title IX, Title VI and other civil rights compliance as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, criminal justice, legal studies, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in investigation, compliance, student services, or a related area (internships or practicum experience may be considered).
- Understanding of Title IX, FERPA, 504 and IEPs, and other related federal and state regulations (training will be provided).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with diverse populations, including with minor children.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to remain neutral, professional, and empathetic during emotionally charged situations.
- Proficient in Google suite and comfortable with case management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a K-12 or higher education setting.
- JD
- Prior Title IX and Title VI training or certification.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
Working Conditions:
- This role may require occasional evening or weekend work for investigations.
- Some travel between schools or district offices may be necessary.
