About the Opportunity

A growing California civil litigation firm is seeking an experienced Law & Motion Attorney to join its litigation team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who enjoys crafting persuasive legal arguments, developing litigation strategy, and producing exceptional written work that directly influences the outcome of complex civil cases.


Rather than managing a traditional litigation caseload, you'll focus on sophisticated motion practice, legal research, and strategic analysis while partnering with accomplished trial attorneys across multiple offices.

What You'll Do

  • Draft and oppose a wide range of substantive motions, including:
  • Demurrers
  • Motions to strike
  • Motions for summary judgment
  • Motions for summary adjudication
  • Motions in limine
  • Discovery motions
  • Other dispositive and non-dispositive motions
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research supporting litigation strategy and case development
  • Prepare:
  • Pleadings
  • Legal memoranda
  • Briefs
  • Appellate-quality legal research
  • Other litigation documents
  • Analyze opposing counsel's filings and develop persuasive written responses
  • Partner with litigation attorneys on matters involving:
  • General liability
  • Construction defect
  • Personal injury
  • Business litigation
  • Real property disputes
  • Provide strategic legal analysis throughout all phases of complex civil litigation
  • Manage multiple drafting assignments while consistently meeting court deadlines
  • Communicate with attorneys and clients regarding legal strategy and motion practice
  • Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's California offices on active litigation matters


Qualifications

  • Active California Bar admission required
  • 3+ years of California civil litigation experience
  • Significant experience drafting and opposing:
  • Dispositive motions
  • Discovery motions
  • Pleadings
  • Briefs
  • Legal memoranda
  • Outstanding legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong issue-spotting abilities
  • Ability to independently manage multiple drafting projects and litigation deadlines


Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • General liability
  • Construction defect
  • Personal injury
  • Business litigation
  • Real property litigation
  • Civil defense

Attorneys with 5+ years of experience may be considered for a more senior-level position.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $140,000 – $180,000, depending on experience
